Dreams

I thought I might share some of my thoughts about dreams. It has been my experience that there are many different types of dreams. Processing dreams, Symbolic dreams and True dreams. Each type is fairly distinctive and yet during a single night's sleep it is possible to shift between each kind.

Processing dreams content is often about the various experiences that we have had recently or that have been on our minds frequently. This is often how our conscious mind deciphers and encodes our experiences in a way that makes them understandable to our subconscious mind and available to long term memory. For example, we may dream about a movie we saw, and translate what we saw into symbols that relate to our personal experiences.

Symbolic dreams are not literal in content, tend to have outlandish or unrealistic imagery or colors and are often open to interpretation. It is by this method that our subconscious mind communicates with our conscious mind. This is an area that is ripe for new insights, inspiration and better understanding of your self and your current life situations.

True dreaming includes a lot of different types of dreams that have one thing in common they are a direct reflection of an actual occurrence of a past, present or future event. Another type included in this category is dream training, which is a dream wherein you are taught information, skills or abilities that you may not have had before consciously. (Whether that is by an outside entity or your own subconscious is rather beside the point.)

All of these various types of dreams have one thing in common: If you pay attention to your dreams you can gain valuable insights into yourself and the world around you.

Egolessness

So often, spiritual people are expected to let go of their egos. Through meditation, self sacrifice, surrender to a higher power among other things. Trying to get rid of the ego is like trying to run from your own shadow. The faster you run the faster it chases you. The only way to make it disappear is to turn on the light.

At the same time the ego is a necessary part of your temporal being. Don't be afraid to have one. Without it, a normal life can be quite difficult. The best thing I can say about it is: The ego isn't really you, let it be your friend, your companion, yet know that the real you is always in charge.

Open Circle

How often do you challenge your comfort zone? There are so many possibilities in life, yet many people stay the same. Break out of your box and try something new.

Reality

What is real? What is true? Is there really any way to tell for sure? We often use our senses to determine these things. Yes what color would a sunset be if you could see infra-red or ultra violet? Or hear with the same ears as a dog or a bat? What about smelling as a bloodhound? What would your reality be then?

Momentum

Constantly moving, constantly changing. The world is energy in motion. Even things that are motionless are actually moving at precisely the same speed and direction as everything around it. When you find a direction worth traveling, take a step, move forward toward your goals and dreams. As you move forward, your momentum will build. You can cover great distances and achieve great things with a series of small actions that are coherent and in alignment. Let the flow you begin carry you onward!

Hope

What is life without hopes and dreams? Something to pull us forward, towards an uncertain future? We create this life by our thoughts and our feelings. Why not focus on the things that could make our lives better? The lives of others better? It doesn't take much to create this better life. Just us.

Obstacles

Overcoming obstacles is part of life. How many things that we struggle with turn out to be our greatest gifts? When blocked or frustrated with the way things are we, can dig in our heels a fight what is, or we can accept it, harmonize with it, and redirect the flow of events. As we overcome our obstacles, we become stronger, wiser and more aware of how we can help others with their personal struggles.

Oppositions are really opportunities in disguise.

Fear

What is fear? It sure can seem quite real, but in reality it is simply an phantom of the mind. A shadow of a small thing projected onto the walls of our imaginations. Fears can apparently cause real effects, yet themselves are often nothing more than ephemeral thoughts that disappear when you try to grasp them. Most people mistake fear for wisdom or common sense, although they are not the same.

Push through your fears and change the world.

Waiting

The other day, I was sitting at a stop light when a thought hit me. I had been waiting for a green light my whole life. What I saw in that moment was that I had been waiting for permission from someone or something outside before I did anything. I hadn't done much really, except for waiting.

In this moment however, I thought how much better my life would be if I only stopped when there was a red light. and didn't wait for green anymore. Once this thought fully hit me, it was as if I went from having less than 1% of all the options out there available to having 99% at my fingertips. Ah! What freedom! What Joy!

In all seriousness...

Seriousness. It's almost like a disease. At at least a bad habit. I've had it for a long time. (Even though at times I can be funny.) In school they taught me that to succeed you have to have the right answers, to sit still, to shut up, to do what you are told, no questions asked. Heaven forbid that you laugh during class. The wrath of the the almighty will strike you down.

No room for smiles, no room for laughter, no room to live. Trying to be perfect and be in perfect control leads to this mess. You can't be nervous or afraid unless you believe there is a right answer. (or that you could be wrong). Breath, laugh, love. Be imperfect and learn to love it because that's who we are and it's a good thing. Great things are accomplished all the time by imperfect people. I'm sure if you think about it a few will come to mind.

I want to help people, and I want it to be fun for everyone. (Including me)

Fate?

Fate... destiny... are we contained by preordained paths? Or do we have total free will? Like many questions, the answer to both is Yes, no, and maybe so. It all depends on the moment, the people involved, and the situation. Ultimately it doesn't matter. The results are the same no matter how you slice it.

Energy Follows Intent

I've had this saying for quite a while. People who know me are familiar with this phrase. It has been said in many different ways in many different ages. It is simplicity itself. It is the key for unlocking your dreams and making them come true.

Energy Follows Intent.

Whatever you focus on and have intense feelings about, will manifest. Reality can be created, shaped and changed according to our will. The clearer and stronger that will, the more intensely our visions manifest themselves. The great thing about this is that we don't have to understand the process consciously for it to work. We only have to develop the skills to use the process effectively.

Introduction

I recently finished reading a book called, Action Trumps Everything by Charles F Keifer and Leonard A Schlesinger. The basic premise is right there in the title. So this is where it starts. First small steps. first blog.

I love how those moments when you set down to write and it seems that suddenly, all the thoughts that were fighting for supremacy only moments before suddenly become dead quiet. My intent with this blog is to share with the world some of the things that seem to make life better. Some are simple, some are complex, but they all come with alot of personal experience. If even one of these things makes your life better, I would love to hear about it.
